Things You Should Know about Your Newborn's TeethAll parents realize that their kids have reached a significant babyhood milestone once they go from the forced gummy grins to the cute toothy smiles. Newly erupting baby teeth play an important role in the development of your baby's dental health. Parents have a role to play as well, which is why they should know all there is to know about their newborn's teeth.

Why are baby teeth important?

Baby teeth are important because they get your toddler's mouth ready for permanent teeth when they eventually arrive. While baby teeth add to the cuteness of your kid, they have other purposes as well. Their very first purpose is to help the baby in their chewing process. Additionally, they are also necessary to help your kid learn how to speak. Well spaced primary teeth can aid in the speaking process and can lead to the creation of a proper accent. Baby teeth also act as placeholders for permanent teeth.

Things you should know about baby teething

Baby teeth, which originate through a process known as teething, first come up when your child is around three to 12 months of age. The tooth eruption timeline can differ from kid to kid, but is mostly the same.

The signs of teething in a kid include drooling, irritability, ear rubbing, facial rash, swelling or redness of gums, sucking or biting and mild temperature. While these signs are common, you can visit a pediatric dentist for further information if the need be. You should try giving your kid something to chew on regularly, so that they can avoid the pain that comes with teething. Make sure you also clean their gums with a wet gauze pad or a clean finger.

My daughter was a little nervous to have her dental work done but everyone in the office was super friendly and very reassuring and that helped her nervousness go away. Thanks for the excellent dental experience. ~ Lilyana G.
