These Fun-Flossing Tips Help Promote Healthy Kids' Teeth

These Fun-Flossing Tips Help Promote Healthy Kids' TeethOral care does not have to be dull and boring. Many kids aren't a fan of flossing as they may be with brushing. They will often resist it. As a parent, though, you should make efforts to guide and encourage them to floss on their own. Making the flossing experience fun for the child is one way to make them learn and practice their oral hygiene. Here are some fun-flossing tips you can utilize.

Make it a Family Task

Try to get everyone to the activity. Flossing your teeth together creates a better learning environment. Lead by example by showing the kids how to brush and floss.

Go Shopping Toothbrush and Flossers Together

When it's time to get a new toothbrush and floss, go shopping with the kids to let them select their own dental floss or picks. Flossers are available in different flavors, colors, and styles, which are kid-friendly and fun.

Create an Interactive Flossing Session

Consider playing your kid's favorite song or create one so that you make the experience as fun and interactive as possible while flossing. Join the dance and pretend that you are too enjoying it as you floss.

Praise the Kid

Give the kid a treat or praise her when they learn to floss adequately. You can even offer rewards or prizes for regular flossing. Ensuring positive reinforcement is very essential in establishing and developing a good oral care regime for the kids. Do not fuss or nag at your kid if they forget to floss before bedtime. Just try to offer a reminder and cunningly lure them to get to the bathroom and floss.

Visit our pediatric dental office for more pro tips to help your little one learn to floss. During a routine checkup at our office, ask our hygienist or dentist to demonstrate to the kid the right way to floss.

My daughter was a little nervous to have her dental work done but everyone in the office was super friendly and very reassuring and that helped her nervousness go away. Thanks for the excellent dental experience. ~ Lilyana G.
