Can You Include These Foods If Your Kids Need More Calcium?

Posted on 7/26/2021 by Fariba Mutschler
Can You Include These Foods If Your Kids Need More Calcium? One of the best ways to prevent cavities and strengthen developing teeth is by eating or drinking foods with calcium. The following information tells you what you can feed kids that will give them the calcium they need.

Kid-friendly Calcium-rich Food Choices

Not all foods need to be dairy foods to supply calcium for kids. Some foods are fortified with calcium, which supply a good deal of the recommended daily alliance (RDA) for calcium. Some of these foods include calcium-fortified cereals, calcium-fortified soy milk, and low-calorie leafy-green veggies. Beans and almond butter or almond milk may also contain calcium. Calcium is found in many foods that kids can eat for a snack, such as cheese or yogurt.

Make Eating Calcium Interesting

If kids veer away from eating leafy greens, you can include them in a smoothie. The idea is to create a menu of calcium-rich foods that taste good and are good for you. You can also explain to your child how calcium builds healthy, strong bones and teeth. Engage them in grocery shopping, for example, and show them the foods considered good for dental health and the foods that are not so good.

How to Make Sure Your Child Receives Enough Calcium

To ensure your child eats a diet rich in calcium, substitute milk for water when making oatmeal, pudding, pancakes, or hot chocolate. Serve yogurt as a dip for slices of fruit as well as calcium-rich broccoli. Sprinkle shredded cheese onto omelets, tacos, soups, casseroles, and vegetables.

My daughter was a little nervous to have her dental work done but everyone in the office was super friendly and very reassuring and that helped her nervousness go away. Thanks for the excellent dental experience. ~ Lilyana G.
