Is It Ok to Skip Regular Checkups?

Posted on 10/5/2020 by Fariba Mutschler
Is It Ok to Skip Regular Checkups? It's not okay to skip regular dental check-ups. What seems like a harmless case of procrastination can be quite costly both for your health and your wallet. For instance, a build-up of plaque and tartar is easy for us to clean during a dental cleaning appointment. However, the effects of skipping these appointments may lead to severe cavities, gum disease, and tooth decay.

Dental Check-Ups Ensure Early Detection of Oral Cancer and Other Dental Problems

Regular dental check-ups involve a thorough screening. Once you come in, we will screen your mouth for oral cancer. Oral cancer is one of the cancers that you can easily beat with early detection. Therefore, this screening is crucial if you smoke tobacco or have a history of the HPV viruses, which can also cause oral cancer. If you have any other conditions like mouth sores and lacerations, cavities, and the early signs of gum disease, we can identify them and treat them before they escalate.

Regular Dental Check-Ups Provide Preventive Care

One of the best ways to beat dental problems is through preventive care. However, your toothbrush can't do all the work. Where the toothbrush and dental floss can't reach, we can. During your dental check-ups, a professional dental cleaning clears out the accumulated plaque and tartar hidden in the crevices between your teeth where you may not be able to see or reach. This cleaning is the first action against tooth decay. Dental cleaning also prevents the yellowing of your teeth. It helps remove stubborn stains caused by coffee, wine, and other foods. Your gums need all the love they can get; a regular dental check-up will ensure that your gum line is not in a constant battle against bacteria. Don't let ignore your oral health until you have something to worry about. Contact us to make your dental check-up appointment.
My daughter was a little nervous to have her dental work done but everyone in the office was super friendly and very reassuring and that helped her nervousness go away. Thanks for the excellent dental experience. ~ Lilyana G.
