![]() As dentists, we want to make sure that you understand that you need to keep their gums healthy, even before those first pearly whites show up. The sooner you start, the less foreign something cleaning their mouths will become. How to Keep the Gums of a Baby CleanThe best way to keep your baby's gums clean and healthy is by using a soft, clean cloth. You can use a washcloth or even a clean burp cloth. Get it wet, ideally cool water so it is soothing to them as they get older and their gums are more sensitive. Then, just wash it across their gums. You should do this at least one time each day at first, and once they show signs they are teething, then you should up it to twice each day. Once they have those first teeth, you will want to go from using a cloth to a new tooth, bumpy toothbrush meant for babies. This will help clean the tooth and also work on the rest of the baby's gums. If you are not quite sure how to keep your baby's gums healthy, before or after their first teeth arrive, call us. We will go through the process with you and show you. We can even take the time to get to know you and your baby a little bit so they get used to seeing us. The sooner we can establish a good relationship with them, the easier cleanings and exams will be as they get older. |
My daughter was a little nervous to have her dental work done but everyone in the office was super friendly and very reassuring and that helped her nervousness go away. Thanks for the excellent dental experience. ~ Lilyana G. Read More Testimonials |
