My Baby's Teeth Won't Come In

Your baby should begin to get their first teeth at around six months of age. It's not unusual for babies to get a baby tooth at three or four months of age. Some babies wait to get a tooth until after they turn one. If you are worried about your baby's lack of teeth, don't worry. Dentists usually recommend that you bring your baby to them for the first time when their first tooth erupts. You can also bring your baby to the dentist when they are approaching their first birthday. Dentists can tell you when to expect those teeth and give you instructions about oral care for babies.

My Child Has Not Lost Any Baby Teeth

Children begin to lose their teeth at different ages. Your child can begin to lose their teeth at four years old. Children will begin to lose their teeth at five or six years old. Your child can be as old as seven before their first tooth falls out. If you're concerned about your child's teeth, a dentist can take X-rays to determine if there are problems with the baby's teeth. In some cases, the child may need a tooth extraction to make room for permanent teeth.

What Can I Do About Teething Pain?

Babies who are cutting their first teeth may experience pain as the tooth erupts from the gum line. If you look in your child's mouth, you might notice the gums are red and swollen, and your baby might cry as if they're in pain. If your child is having teething pain, you can try massaging their gumline or offering them a popsicle or frozen chew ring to help soothe their pain. You can also use over-the-counter pain relievers to help as well.

My daughter was a little nervous to have her dental work done but everyone in the office was super friendly and very reassuring and that helped her nervousness go away. Thanks for the excellent dental experience. ~ Lilyana G.
