How Can I Make Sure My Kids Are Brushing And Flossing Properly?Parenting is one of the most important jobs you'll ever have, but it is also one of the toughest. You work so hard to give your kids the best start in life, and it is an uphill battle sometimes. One of the battles parents have to fight with young children is the brushing and flossing battle. Most kids don't like to brush and floss, and as a parent, you need to find ways to make sure they brush. Here are some tips for making sure your kids are brushing and flossing well.

Tips for Brushing and Flossing

Brushing and flossing is an essential part of your kids' oral health. If you can get your kids to brush and floss twice a day, and you have them visit the dentist twice a year, you will be giving them a head start towards a lifetime of great dental care. Here are some tried and true tips to help your kids brush and floss:

Let them choose their own toothbrush and toothpaste. These days, there are so many colors and flavors of toothpaste, and so many types of toothbrushes, your child will be able to choose something they like, which means they'll be far more willing to brush.

Give them flossers. Flossers are far easier for children to use than regular string floss. You will also want to teach them how to brush their teeth for two minutes. You can teach them a song to sing, or you can have them set a timer.

Give them rewards for brushing and flossing. Some parents make it part of their kid's allowance chart, while others give their children stickers to put in a book or on a poster. That way, you get clean teeth, and they get a reward. Let them see you brushing and flossing. Children model what they know, so if they see you practicing good dental care, they are far more likely to brush and floss themselves.

My daughter was a little nervous to have her dental work done but everyone in the office was super friendly and very reassuring and that helped her nervousness go away. Thanks for the excellent dental experience. ~ Lilyana G.
