Places Where You Can Get Extra Nutrition Into Your Child's DietA healthy diet is the foundation for a healthy life. Our bones, teeth and bodies are stronger and healthier when we eat better. As your child grows, he or she will be learning and exploring their world, forming ideas and trying new things.

Along with this exploration and growth, they may be too busy or excited to sit and eat the recommended three meals a day. Here are a few ways to get a little extra nutrition into your busy child's diet.

Quality Vs. Quantity

It's important to remember that the quality of the food your child is getting far outweighs quantity of food. Foods that are high in protein, vitamins and minerals, even if eaten in small quantities is better than your child sitting down to a full meal of empty calories.

Read the labels and be aware of how much sugar your child is consuming. Little tricks like replacing syrup on pancakes with peanut butter is a great way to introduce a little more protein into the diet and eliminate sugar.

Don't Make Mealtime a Battle

Your child should be eating from a variety of food groups every day. Plenty of meat, fish, poultry, beans and eggs for protein. Milk, cheese and other dairy products along with fruits, vegetables and some grains make up a healthy diet.

That being said, don't panic if your toddler isn't always meeting this ideal. Toddlers are notorious for resisting certain foods and very well may insist on eating only one or two favorites. Keep introducing healthier options, and limiting unhealthy ones, and your child will eventually begin to try the new foods.

If you're concerned that your child still isn't getting the nutrition he or she needs, please give us a call. Our staff would be happy to help you with some additional ideas. Healthy diets equal healthy children!
My daughter was a little nervous to have her dental work done but everyone in the office was super friendly and very reassuring and that helped her nervousness go away. Thanks for the excellent dental experience. ~ Lilyana G.
